Founded in 1934 Amana as a company has been manufacturing air conditioners for a long time. With that experience you get product from a market leader found all over the world, know for its durability and rang of unique features. The Amana air conditioner essentially comes in three types, PTAC’s (packaged terminal air conditioner), TTW (through the wall air conditioner) and WRAC (window room air conditioner)
Amana PTAC air conditioners are most commonly found in commercial applications such as hotels, offices, apartment building and dormitories. They are known for their sturdy construction, ease of installation and longevity. Also when using a PTAC air conditioner the ease of replacement is a big selling feature as the size is standard throughout the industry for the most part. Amana PTAC’s do offer some unique features such as their Digismart technology which allows for things like occupancy sensors and tracking usage utilizing a BMS or building management system which acts to cut costs in hotels specifically.
Amana’s TTW air conditioners can be used in either a commercial or residential applications and are essentially a window air conditioner that instead of occupying a window goes through the wall. An Amana window air conditioner is perfect if you don’t want to have to worry about taking the system out when winter is coming or they have 115V options for homes that do not have 208/230V service and Amana PTACs cannot be used.
Amana’s WRAC air conditioners are the final type they produce and are most commonly used in homes, they are easy to install, quiet and the cheapest of all the unit when it comes to an initial investment. They come in cooling only models as well as models with electric heat and ones that have a heat pump (allows the refrigeration cycle to run in reverse to provide cost effective heat in the shoulder seasons).
